Table Hopper, Marcia Gagliardi sampled our new Brazilian Cheese Bread at the San Francisco Street Food Festival on August 20, 2011. Her words: “just insane”.

From Huffington Post:
“Cristina Arantes of Kika’s Treats will be serving soft, fluffy Brazilian cheese bread at the bars. Made with yucca flour, these warm little pieces of heaven are gluten-free. She will also make gourmet s’mores with her famous chocolate covered caramelized graham crackers. (kikastreats.com)”

From Huff Post’s Good News:
“Cristina Arantes of Kika’s Treats decided to start her company after a fateful visit to La Cocina in 2005. Her decadent Brazilian honey cakes and chocolate-covered caramelized graham crackers are some of the most sinful sweets ever. Arantes just launched a new collection of coconut palm sugar caramels. “La Cocina is still very much a part of my business, as Kika’s Treats donates 5 percent of its net profits back to where it all started,” Arantes said.

From Tasting Table: If you live in San Francisco and you don’t already know about Kika’s Treats–well, shame on you.
But if you live farther afield, consider this your invitation to join the club. Brazilian-born owner Cristina Arantes makes her treats–coconut, espresso and cacao-nib chocolate shortbread, caramelized graham crackers and Brazilian honey cakes, all enrobed in either milk or dark chocolate–with care. Be forewarned: They’re habit-forming.
Kika’s Treats were just voted the Best Caramel at the 2011 San Francisco Chocolate Salon in April. Available in three delicious flavors, inspired by our line of shortbreads: Classic Crunchy, Espresso, and Cocoa Nib Chocolate. These decadent caramel treats are covered in rich, bittersweet chocolate and sprinkled with delicate flakes of sea salt. In addition, they are made with organic coconut palm sugar, which has a natural caramel flavor with tasty butterscotch notes. This unrefined sugar comes from the sap of the coconut palm tree, which is a sustainable harvest and is good for the environment. It is also very low on the glycemic index, making it a much healthier alternative to white refined sugar and most other sweeteners.
From Serious Eats:
These Honey Cakes from San Francisco-based Kika’s Treats remind me a lot of Honey Cakes by Bee Desserts in the West Village. They both find roots in pão de mel, a Brazillian honey bread, but differ in the sense that those from Kika’s, while slightly more dry, are significantly more flavorful with plenty of spices like cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon and even ground coffee beans.
