Her decadent Brazilian honey cakes and chocolate-covered caramelized graham crackers are some of the most sinful sweets ever. Arantes just launched a new collection of coconut palm sugar caramels. “La Cocina is still very much a part of my business, as Kika’s Treats donates 5 percent of its net profits back to where it all started,” Arantes said.

Kika’s Treats were just voted the Best Caramel at the 2011 San Francisco Chocolate Salon in April. Available in three delicious flavors, inspired by our line of shortbreads: Classic Crunchy, Espresso, and Cocoa Nib Chocolate. These decadent caramel treats are covered in rich, bittersweet chocolate and sprinkled with delicate flakes of sea salt. In addition, they are made with organic coconut palm sugar, which has a natural caramel flavor with tasty butterscotch notes. This unrefined sugar comes from the sap of the coconut palm tree, which is a sustainable harvest and is good for the environment. It is also very low on the glycemic index, making it a much healthier alternative to white refined sugar and most other sweeteners.
